Why Aussie
Poleys and Poley Clearance?
The most obvious difference between Western and Australian-style saddles is the addition of what are called Poleys. These kneepads offer the rider greater security especially when riding trail where the terrain present inclines or steep grades. Novice and veteran riders alike are converted to riding Aussie saddles for their safety and comfort. When seated, the Poleys should be parallel to the rider's thigh and about 3/4" away so that rubbing/friction isn't an issue but close enough so that the poleys can easily interrupt a fall during a quick stop.
