Notes on Australian Girths & Overgirths
The strap on the girth goes through the brass "D" on the overgirth, allowing for additional leverage when girthing up the saddle. This not only makes it easier to girth up the saddle but also assists in preventing saddle slippage. If you have a saddle fitted with an overgirth that has a billet strap on both ends you will to need to purchase the correct overgirth and girth, to correctly rig your Aussie saddle to receive the greatest benefit.
