Bates Western Conversion
Product Number: Bates
The Bates rigging system alows the use of a western girth with a traditional Aussie saddle. The function is 2 fold. It can change the leverage from saddle to horse to help prevent rolling and thus generally increasing stability and it also provides an alternative for those riders who simply prefer using a western girth.HOW DO I KNOW IF A BATES WILL WORK ON MY SADDLE? If your saddle has an overgirth strap, that goes over the seat and down through the fenders on each side, then a Bates will work on your saddle. The Bates overgirth strap replaces the standard Aussie overgirth.
HOW DOES A BATES WORK? The Bates overgirth strap is fitted with Western type dee rings on each side as compared to the standard Aussie overgirth which has a billet on one side and a d-ring on the other. One unique feature about the Bates D-ring set-up is that the mounting side has a square dee with a roller system rather than the traditional rounded shaped. The square D with a roller makes it much easier to tighten the latigo strap.
